James is the bassist and infrequent lyricist of the Toronto metal band, Tether<\/em><\/a>. \nphone in sick, watch Netflix all day,
\ngo out drinking, and
\nrot.
\nEvery moment
\nis a hand grenade,
\na live fuse,
\nanother step in a mine field,
\nan increase of pressure atop a bear trap,
\na spot on your forearm that you don\u2019t recall having seen but may be nothing after all.
\nIt\u2019s the looming sense of not knowing the ending
\nbut knowing there is one.
\nTake the saying
\n\u201cseize the day,\u201d Carpe Diem<\/em> \u2014
\nDominion over life; implies
\na finite amount you can wrap
\nyour arms around, sink
\nyour teeth into, suck
\ndry.<\/p>\n
