\ngood practice for later.
\nWatching tired faces tilt this way and that,
\nemergencies are announced.
\nThey are not happening to us.
\nIf nothing else,
\nlight deserves an ode.
\nA crunching break of sun
\ncatches you off guard in quick ride over the viaduct
\njust before Broadview: the bridge, the river below,
\nthe ravines, pause the flatness:
\na slice in the darkness.
\nThe subway is a boat in dark water
\ntunnelling through the humming black.
\nClose your eyes.
\nEase into the wave.
\nAt this age, the electric lull
\nis the closest you\u2019ll get to being cradled.<\/p>\n
