Ragnarok

the death knell sounds
a few miles off
if I could, I’d turn to kiss you,
or wait for the opportunity
that never comes

keep me in your hands,
near to your breath
atheists worship
with daily devotion
swallow me
so that I could ever listen
to your body

 

 


CONRAD LEIBEL is a poet, performer, essayist and musician from Edmonton, Alberta who couldn’t stop learning if he wanted to. He graduated from the University of Victoria’s MA in English literature program with a concentration in medieval and early modern studies. He also holds a BA in English and film studies from the University of Alberta.
